Why does it matter that it is outside? I have heard a few times that the treadmill takes only 80% of the effort and that treadmill running is easier... so, I've been trying to keep getting outside so that I'll be able to get outside when I need to and because I don't just want to be an indoor runner. Today was cold, but I liked being out there, seeing everyone running. The day was really clear, the sun was out, and my lungs didn't act up at all. I just can't believe I'm actually doing this! I saw a few dogs, but I still feel like people aren't taking me seriously out there... these serious dude runners kept playing chicken with me by not getting out of my way. Until I ducked aside to allow them to run their straight course. Is this because they are men or because they are serious. I am not sure.
Wore shorts and a t-shirt at 35 degrees Fahrenheit... nice. 1 mile warm up, 5 miles around the reservoir... 1 mile cool down... brr! 64 minutes... 12 min. 48 seconds/mile... (though I looked on-line and tried to map my run and it came up as between 5.5 and 6 miles!) (11.6-10.6 minutes/mile)

My thoughts:
ReplyDelete-Outside running certainly helps when it comes to race-day, since it's easier to maintain the pace on your own if you have had practice running on your own... doing it all on the treadmill isn't necessarily easier but it forces you to keep the pace... which can be good or bad.
-People don't move for me either, I think they can just be rude.
